WFG en français !

Sep 16, 2018

WFG Distribution is pleased to present Found in Translation//Traduction fidèle, a curated selection of subtitled films for francophone audiences!

Thanks to a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, 36 titles from our distribution collection have been translated and subtitled into French to increase the accessibility of our catalogue and to reach new audiences, here in Canada and abroad.

We’ve curated four themed programs that we are taking on tour around Québec and French-speaking Europe.

The first of our translation tour stops, in partnership with Festival de cinéma de la Ville de Québec (FCVQ), is taking place this evening, Sept 16, at the Palais Montcalm in Québec City at 19h. Our distribution coordinator, Steph Berrington, will be in attendance and the program will be followed by a screening of The Green Fog by Evan Johnson, Galen Johnson, and Guy Maddin.

After FCVQ, Steph will be travelling to Montréal to share the program of short films by Indigenous filmmakers at La lumière collective, an artist and exhibition space in the Mile Ex neighbourhood. This screening will be Saturday, Sept 22 at 20h (doors at 19h30). More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1808556152530977/

The animation program will be screened on Sunday, Sept 23 as an outdoor, bike-powered screening with Cinema Out of the Box at 77 Bernard Est, outside Kabane77 at 19h. See the facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/309807979572583/

The next event will happen at the brand-new arthouse cinéma in Montréal’s Mile End, Cinéma Moderne, on Tuesday, Sept 25 at 21h. Come see the new theatre and enjoy a beverage with Steph in their cafe-bar beforehand!

On Thurs, Sept 27, WFG is teaming up with Groupe Intervention Vidéo (GIV) for a screening of the program of works by women at GIV’s space on Berri at 19h. More info on the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/461026984416753/
