CARFAC and IMAA want your opinion on artist fees for media arts!

Feb 26, 2016

This survey directly relates to our activities here at the Winnipeg Film Group and Cinematheque. Please do the survey if you are a filmmaker or video artist!

Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) and the Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA) are engaging in a national community consultation process in order to evaluate their respective fee schedules in relation to the needs, practices and activities of the Canadian media arts community. The goal of this community consultation process is to develop a harmonized fee schedule structure for media artists.

This consultation begins with a survey on the subject of artists’ fees. Two surveys are currently circulating: one for media artists and another for organizations who show or distribute media art works. For links to both surveys, see here.

Please reply to the survey latest by March 19. Beginning in April, CARFAC and IMAA will continue the consultation with the community through a series of in-person focus group sessions held across the country to gather specific input from artists and organizations in the media arts community. For more information, please contact Emmanuel Madan, IMAA National Director (dir@imaa.ca) or Marcia Lea, CARFAC National Acting Executive Director (marcia@carfac.ca).

Instructions
Please fill out this survey if you are a professional Canadian artist working in the field of media arts, whose work has been presented in a professional context in Canada. (Estimated time to complete the media artist survey: 15 to 20 minutes.)

Please fill out this survey if you are currently employed as staff or serve as a member of the board of directors of a professional arts organization that presents media arts or works with media artists. (Estimated time to complete the media artist survey: about 30 minutes.)

Information gathered through the surveys will remain confidential and only aggregated information will be shared publicly.

Thanks in advance for your time in providing valuable information about artist fees and media arts in Canada!
