Dear loyal fans of Cinematheque,
On behalf of all of us at Cinematheque, we wanted to thank you for your continued support over the last few years. This year, we hit a milestone in our attendance with our box office nearly triple what it was 10 years ago! We are overjoyed and grateful for your continued dedication and patronage at our theatre. Without you we would just be an empty room!
Although the ongoing influx of attendance has been fantastic for our organization, we’ve been finding that part of our ticketing policy has been causing some issues. In the past, we have sold 75% of tickets online with the rest available the night of the screening. During a popular film, this has created a very busy lobby with many folks hoping to get a ticket at the door and sadly being turned away. 10 years ago, this problem was rare but in 2019 this sometimes happens several times a week. Sold out screenings have become a regular thing at Cinematheque.
From your valued feedback, we have decided to alter our ticketing policy. From now on, we will make 100% of tickets available in advance for every film shown at Cinematheque. Of course, not all films will sell out, but we encourage you to visit our website, our box office during operational hours (beginning 30 minutes prior to every showtime), or our administrative offices in the basement of Artspace (Mon-Fri 10am-5pm) to purchase your tickets in advance. The last thing we want is for you to plan a night out at Cinematheque and be disappointed that a film is sold out.
