Film Combat Workshop

This two day workshop will introduce participants to fight choreography by learning how to throw punches, kicks and blocks. They will orchestrate a simple stunt sequence by using different camera angles and will go over reactions to sell the scene on camera. Please make sure to bring comfortable clothing and footwear to these classes.

Day 1
– Introduction/show action reel
– Safety
– Warm up
– Basics: punches, kicks, blocks
– Reactions and how to sell it on camera
– Learn small choreography to shoot for another day

Day 2
– Shoot choreography/learning angles

 

Anthony Javier Anthony is a local independent actor, martial artist, stuntman and film maker. He began his acting training in 2010 and then took a break to focus on martial arts and physical fitness. Before becoming part of the film industry he was an amateur boxer for four years, then he went on to achieve his black belt in taekwondo. Anthony is also trained in fencing, gymnastics, and stage combat. Influenced by Asian cinema, he has written, directed and starred in many of his own martial arts shorts such as ‘Kuya’, ‘The Kill-Switch’, and the award winning short ‘Got Rice?’. His action reel can be found here.

Gina Macri started acting five years ago and began as a background performer working her way up to do commercials, short films, and television shows. She was a nominee for best actress in two separate short films by the UWpg Film Fest in 2018, and has also been involved with the 48hr Film Festival for the passed three years.

-The Winnipeg Film Group reserves the right to cancel any course where the minimum registration has not been met. Anyone registered for a course that has been cancelled is eligible for a full refund, Cancelled course fees may also be used towards any other Winnipeg Film Group training programs.
