Tales of the Uncanny: The Ultimate Survey of Anthology Horror

Available to rent for $7.99
Nov 24 - Jan 8
Directed by David Gregory
2020, USA, 104 min

This title is available to rent via Cinematheque at Home for $7.99. This is not only an opportunity for our patrons to see new cinema, but is an important way that they can continue to support independent film during this pandemic with 50% of all sales supporting our theatre.

Facebook live Q&A with David Gregory (director) and Kier-La Janisse (producer) on Wednesday, December 9th at 5pm. Moderated by Jaimz Asmundson (Cinematheque Programming Director) and Olivia Norquay (host of Bikini Drive-In, every Sunday at 4pm on CKUW 95.9 FM).

What began as a modest bonus feature for the Special Edition Blu-ray of The Theatre Bizarre became – when Covid hit – an international Zoom-enabled feature-length documentary on the evolution, challenges and all-time top 5 greatest anthologies and segments – in horror. Cult restoration company Severin Films chief David Gregory and House Of Psychotic Women author Kier-La Janisse explore a who’s who of more than 60 horror writers, directors and scholars that include Eli Roth, Joe Dante, Mark Hartley, Mick Garris, Ernest Dickerson, Joko Anwar, Ramsey Campbell, David DeCoteau, Kim Newman, Jovanka Vuckovic, Luigi Cozzi, Tom Savini, Jenn Wexler, Larry Fessenden, Richard Stanley, Brian Trenchard-Smith, Brian Yuzna, Gary Sherman, Rebekah McKendry and Peter Strickland in a candid discussion of the very best fright film/TV history.

Presented by Severin Films in partnership with The Fantasia International Film Festival.
