By Andrew Lima | 00:10:35 | Documentary, Experimental | 2001-05-19

Terra Velha is a visual and sonic study of disparate landscapes within the islands of the Azores. Through contemplative observation, elements within the landscapes gradually oscillate, notions of homeland and origin combine into an impressionistic memory, reaching all the way back through time to the moment of their volcanic birthing.

Phantom City

By Patrick Jenkins | 00:06:30 | Animation, Narrative-Fiction | 7/09/15

In a big city a young woman sees a movie called “Naked Angels”. What appears to be a film noir is actually a passage through the fourth wall. This beautiful game with reality does what only animation can. A nice jazzy score is a binding element in a sequence of bizarre twists.

Velocity

By Kent Tate | 00:04:22 | Animation, Experimental | 4/08/17

I generally gravitate towards places that reveal the many layers of time. This is when I like to imagine worlds that have passed, worlds that are present, and worlds that are yet to be.

Love Los Angeles

By Kent Tate | 00:03:34 | Animation, Documentary, Experimental | 4/10/17

Being natural born pattern seekers, we are forever looking for this clue or that clue to help explain what otherwise might appear to be unfathomable. Fundamentally, this represents a type of diary without dates, of memories reconstructed that are both actualized and imagined to formulate my story.

Emanations: A Visual Poem

By Patrick Jenkins | 00:04:37 | Animation, Experimental | 15/01/2017

An abstract movie about the relentless cycle of life, including growth and decay, and wonder and awe. This film explores the idea that contemporary urban cityscapes are replacing the natural environment, for example skyscrapers and buildings have taken the place of mountains, and that man has been very successful in taming nature, for good and…

Bird City Lights

By Kalli Anderson, Zachary Finkelstein | 00:16:57 | Documentary | 15/01/2017

An estimated one million migratory birds slam into Toronto’s glass buildings every year. Bird City Lights follows a day in the life of a bird rescuer as she scours the sidewalks, nooks and crannies of the financial district for fallen birds in the early hours of the morning. The film offers a rare glimpse into…

Transit – Destination

By Kent Tate | 00:03:04 | Animation, Documentary, Experimental | 29/09/2013

While not apparent for the most part, cities require far flung resources making them islands or something akin to a space station. Cities are also de facto barriers for many other animal species, especially those that require migration routes to survive.

SIGHTINGS

By Kent Tate | 00:04:12 | Documentary, Experimental | 6/01/13

During my childhood I spent countless hours daydreaming. Often about beaming aboard an alien spacecraft where they would ask me about life on Earth. I would enthusiastically tell them my thoughts and observations about this or that, which the space aliens always seemed to find very interesting. In retrospect, I was engaging in a transference…

The Arctic Circus

By Connor Johnstone | 00:23:38 | Documentary | 7/01/17

A film that investigates the controversial tourism industry of Churchill, Manitoba. Billed as the 'polar bear capital of the world', Churchill has become a veritable media frenzy caught between the intersection of economy and environmentalism.
