Jul 13, 2017

Doreen Brownstone is one of twelve Manitobans to receive the Order of Manitoba in 2017. The ceremony will take place this afternoon, July 13, at 4pm in the Manitoba Legislative Building.

The Order of Manitoba is the province’s highest honour and aims to recognize Manitobans who have achieved excellence and contributed to the enrichment of the province’s social, cultural and economic well-being.

Doreen Brownstone is one of the oldest working professional stage actors in Canada at the age of 94. She was the first recipient of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists’ Lifetime Achievement Award. She is also the subject of Doreen Brownstone: Still Working After 90, a documentary by Angus Kohm and Stefanie Wiens in distribution with the Winnipeg Film Group.

For more information about the 2017 Order of Manitoba recipients, visit the website of the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.

The documentary is available for rental on VUCAVU here.
