More free films on VUCAVU

Sep 7, 2017

Former Winnipegger and stellar animator Leslie Supnet is this month’s #EyesOnVu curator!

Leslie’s program, The Sun Does Not Lie, will be live (and FREE) on VUCAVU from September 6 to October 6.

It features works by Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, Galen Johnson, Ana Vaz, Tristan Bera, Jayce Salloum, Ellie Epp, and Zachary Finkelstein, including Maddin/Johnson/Johnson’s Bring Me the Head of Tim Horton and Finkelstein’s Point of No Return.

In her essay accompanying the program, Leslie describes the world through the lens of experimental, documentary, and fiction films that are linked to our current environmental and sociopolitical concerns. Leslie’s program looks at issues of crisis, war, catastrophe, and climate change. She invites the viewer to watch these films and videos as a way to better understand the complexity of the challenges we face and the uncertainty of our future.
