The Board of the Winnipeg Film Group is thrilled to announce the return of Greg Klymkiw who will be taking over the reins of the venerable media arts centre. He will commence his duties on September 1, 2017.
Klymkiw’s long history in Winnipeg includes film programming, film criticism and working at the WFG where he created the marketing and distribution campaigns which solidified the organization’s international reputation in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. He also produced the early films of Guy Maddin and other acclaimed Winnipeg directors. After more than twenty years in Toronto, serving at the Canadian Film Centre as its producer-in-residence, producing his own independent projects and continuing to work as a film critic and broadcast journalist, Klymkiw is thrilled to return to his hometown.
Says Klymkiw, “I’m looking forward to guiding a whole new generation of independent filmmakers (and all those magnificent talented veterans of independence) in the only city I’ve ever considered my home.”
The WFG team looks forward to Greg’s leadership in further developing our many exciting existing programs, as well as those planned for the future.
