WFG artists nominated for Sobey long-list

Apr 20, 2017

Several artists featured in our Distribution Collection have been long-listed for a Sobey Art Award.

Former WFG Distribution Coordinator Niki Little, along with Jenny Western and Jaimie Isaac, who make up the art trio The Ephemerals, have been nominated for the annual Canadian art prize. We distribute their short film, Maiden Indian.

Erica Eyres, who is originally from Winnipeg and now lives and works in Glasgow, was also nominated in the “Prairies and North” category. We have 7 of Erica’s videos in distribution.

Although not represented in our catalogue we are happy to say that Winnipeg artist Divya Mehra has also been nominated.

Congratulations to these and all the nominated artists!

ABOUT THE SOBEY ART AWARD

The Sobey Art Award is the pre-eminent prize for Canadian artists 40 and under. Presented annually, the award celebrates some of our country’s most exciting young artists and provides significant financial recognition. This year it will present $100,000 in prize money — including a top prize of $50,000 for the winner. Each of the four finalists will receive $10,000, and the other long-listed artists will receive $500 each.
